I really need to buy this book because I've been checking it out and renewing the book from the public library for about a year. When I first got the book I was disappointed because there are hardly any photos in the book but once I started making some of the recipes, all is forgiven. The "Alabama biscuit muffins" are worth the price of the book alone and they are simple to make. The pecan pie, fried chicken and oven ribs are all excellent.

I bought The Glory of Southern Cooking in the Fall, hoping to impress my Texas and Louisiana family members with some southern dishes. For Thanksgiving I prepared the Bourbon Sweet Potato Pie. My family enjoyed this dish so much they asked for it again at Christmas and New Years Day. I can't wait to explore more recipes in this book.

This is now one of my "go to" books for Southern cooking and after receiving my copy I've given it as a gift several times. Highly recommended.

I cannot find fault with this fine effort. Southern Cooking is solid, but illusive, unless you have lived in the south...this book is a real pleasure to read and to follow should one be so inclined.
